I think one of the hardest things about being a parent is having to choose between your children. As I write this I am sitting in a hospital room with my 10 week old who has RSV. I know he will be fine, but let me tell you, it is pretty scary when your newborn is coughing and wheezing and using his whole body as he struggles to breathe, and because he can't breathe, he won't eat, and when he FINALLY eats, he throws it all back up. My 3 yr old is also sick, and even though it is an obvious choice that I made, staying in hospital with the sicker child, it is still hard. Knowing my other baby is home, sick, and needing his momma. I had never thought of this aspect of parenting. Maybe that's normal, to never have thought about it? What parent ever wants to think that their child will end up in the hospital? I am so thankful for the help we have gotten from my sister and from Paul's mom. I know that even if I can't be with Elijah, he is with people who love him and who will take great care of him! I am also thankful for everyone who has been praying for little Jeremiah. Around 2 this morning his breathing got a lot better, and he has been able to nurse! He has only thrown up once since yesterday evening. What a great feeling to be able to provide nourishment to my sick baby! It was so hard when he wouldn't eat and then get sick when he did eat. Some people might not think he needed to be in the hospital, I personally don't think they would have kept him if they didn't think he needed to be here. I went through 9 months of hell to bring this child into the world, I am going to fight for him. It's funny how even in my darkest moments, when I truly feel like God has turned his back on me and I am losing trust....God is still faithful!!! A great friend always tells me, "God is ever so faithful and true." God is faithful. Even when my world seems to be falling apart, He has the perfect plan. I know that no matter how broken my heart is that I have to be away from my Elijah, God is surrounding him with people who love him.
